For really short distances (like maybe 20 minute walks), 'tri-sikads' are available. 'Tri-sikads' are bicyles with side-cars for passengers. 'Tri-sikads' is a more recent phenomenon in Butuan City which started around a decade ago.
There is a car rental agency in the city, though selections are very limited.
The pumpboat at Butuan's Warf (Agusan River) departs every hour until 18:00 hours to neighbouring town Magallanes.
